The complex Cp2Ti(SH)2 was treated with 2 equiv of RS-imide, where imide = phthalimide and R = CHMe2 and p-C6H4CH3 and imide = succinimide and R = C6H5, to give the symmetrical disulfane Cp2Ti(SSR)2 when R = CHMe2 and the unsymmetrical trisulfanes Cp2Ti-(SR)(SSSR) when R = C6H5 and p-C6H4CH3. The structure of the compound where R = C6H5 was determined and the TiSSSR linkage characterized.
