Bis(4-aminophenyl)methane on condensation with 5-substituted isatins gives 3,3'-bis-2-indolinones (1a-i).These when subjected to Mannich condensation yield 1-aminomethyl-bis-2-indolinone derivatives (2a-h).Almost all the compounds exhibit moderate acetylcholinesterase inhibition.
