Unsubstituted 1-methylseleno- and/or 1-phenylseleno-allyl cations undergo Friedel-Crafts reaction with N-methylpyrrole at their position 3 to give the adduct (4) while 1-seleno-3-dialkylallyl cations lead to (7) or (9) ia a highly solvent dependent manner, presumably via (5) which cannot be isolated.
