Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 88713-43-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 8,8,7,1 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 88713-43:
(7*8)+(6*8)+(5*7)+(4*1)+(3*3)+(2*4)+(1*3)=163
163 % 10 = 3
So 88713-43-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Direct nitrations of 2-carboxamido- and 2-cyano-Bz-methoxybenzofurans by nitric acid in acetic anhydride always yield two derivatives nitrated on the homocyclic ring at the ortho or, possibly, the para position to the methoxyl group. The proportions vary with the case in question. The methoxylated nitrocarboxamides and nitronitriles obtained can be demethylated by pyridinium chloride. Their hydrolysis into the corresponding acids is performed without demethylation by diluted sulfuric acid and, except in one case, with simultaneous demethylation by diluted soda.
