General Description
Atorvastatin EP Impurity F, also known by its chemical name (3R,5S)-7-(2-(4-Fluorophenyl)-5-isopropyl-3-phenyl-4-(phosphonooxymethyl)pyrrol-1-yl)-3,5-dihydroxyheptanoic acid, is a specific impurity that may be found in atorvastatin drug substances. This impurity is a potential degradation product of atorvastatin and is characterized by its distinct chemical structure. It is important to monitor and control the levels of Atorvastatin EP Impurity F in atorvastatin drug products to ensure product quality and safety for patients. Analytical methods for detecting and quantifying this impurity are essential for regulatory compliance and to safeguard against potential adverse effects.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 887196-24-9 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 8,8,7,1,9 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 887196-24:
(8*8)+(7*8)+(6*7)+(5*1)+(4*9)+(3*6)+(2*2)+(1*4)=229
229 % 10 = 9
So 887196-24-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis of some impurities and/or degradation products of atorvastatin, calcium (3R,5R)-7-[2-(4-fluorophenyl)-5-isopropyl-3-phenyl-4-(phenylcarbamoyl) pyrrol-1-yl]-3,5-dihydroxyheptanoate, is described. These include its desfluoro analog, the corresponding (3S,5S)-and (3S,5R)-epimers, atorvastatin lactone, and some other potential impurities. The synthesized compounds as well as the corresponding intermediates were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and MS.
