Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 88759-17-5 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 8,8,7,5 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 88759-17:
(7*8)+(6*8)+(5*7)+(4*5)+(3*9)+(2*1)+(1*7)=195
195 % 10 = 5
So 88759-17-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Eight kinds of cysteine-containing peptides related to human hepatic metallothionein were synthesized by conventional methods. The metal-binding properties of these peptides with Zn2+ and Cd2+ were indicated by an increase of ultraviolet absorbance resulting from mercaptide formation. The Cd-binding activities of various peptides obtained here were assessed by measuring the increase in absorbance of mercaptide at 250 mm as a function of the concentration of Cd. The binding abilities of the peptides with Cd differed substantially.
