Ti(NMe2)4, when combined with [HNMe 2Ph][B(C6F5)4], catalyzes carboamination of alkynes with aldimines to form highly arylated α,β-unsaturated imines with exclusive (E,E)-configuration at the olefin and (mine residues. Complexes [Ti-(NHMe2)(NMe 2)3][B(C6F5)4] and [Ti=NAr(NHMe2)3(NMe2)]-[B(C6F 5)4] (Ar = 2,6-iPr2C 6H3), isolated from stoichiometric reactions involving Ti(NMe2)4/[HNMe2Ph][B(C6F 5)4] and Ti-(NMe2)4/[HNMe 2Ph][B(C6F5)4]/ArNH2, respectively, also catalyze carboamination with activity comparable to that of the Ti(NMe2)4/[HNMe2Ph][B(C6F 5)4] system.
