Irradiation of the title compounds Ar(CH2)nNHPh (Ar=10-bromo-9-phenanthryl, n=3,4,5,6,10) gave debrominated aniline derivatives in all cases.For n=3 and 4, the cyclic compounds 4a,b were isolated in moderate yields.A photo-induced electron-transfer mechanism is proposed.
