The effect of P-cyclohexyl groups on the coordination chemistry of phosphaguanidinates, is discussed. Chelating ligands which combine disparate donor-groups are attractive in catalytic chemistry as they offer a degree of selectivity due to inherent differences in metal-ligand bonding parameters. Many areas of applied chemistry have been explored, focusing mainly on the late transition elements with asymmetric C-C bond forming reactions and copolymerization of olefins and carbon monoxide. The reactivity with metal halide was studied and it was found that the phosphine group was more likely to participate in the bonding.
