The synthesis and principal properties of rac. α-(4-dibenzofurylthio)-propionic acid and α-(4-dibenzofurylsulfonyl)-propionic acid are described.The thioacid was resolved into its optical antipodes and their configurations were determined.The optical rotatory dispersion of the dextrorotatory acids, its amide, its methylamide and its p-nitrobenzyl and p-bromophenacyl esters was determined over the 340λ600 nm region.Two-term equations describing the optical rotatory dispersion of this acid in this region were derived.
