Cryptands with thiocarbamide groups were obtained by the reaction of diazacrown ethers with polyoxyethylene diisothiocyanates.Their alkylation with methyl iodide in a two-phase system led to the formation of N-methylated cryptands containing carbamide groups.The cationic selectivity of the cryptands with respect to the ions of alkali and alkaline-earth metals was determined.
