Addition of diaryl disulfides to carboncarbon multiple bonds was achieved with a catalytic amount of an electrogenerated acid (EGA), which was produced by the electrolysis of Bu4N+B(C6F 5)4-/CH2Cl2. The anti-addition products of two ArS groups across the carboncarbon multiple bond were obtained in good yields.
THE EFFECT OF ENVIRONMENT ON THE REACTIONS OF THIIRANIUM IONS
Schmid, George H.,Macdonald, Dwight I.
, p. 157 - 160 (2007/10/02)
The thiiranium ion formed by the reaction of Z-1-phenylpropene and (4-ClC6H4S)2SC6H4ClSbCl6 in CH2Cl2 at -70 deg C reacts with Cl(1-) to form both erythro- and threo-Markownikoff β-chlorosulfides.
