9007-31-2 Usage
Description
PROTAMINE SULFATE GRADE III FROM HERRING is a highly purified protein derived from the sperm of herring fish. It is known for its ability to bind to heparin and has a wide range of applications in various industries.
Uses
Used in Biochemistry:
PROTAMINE SULFATE GRADE III FROM HERRING is used as a reagent for the removal of DNA from protein samples or for the purification of DNA binding proteins. It helps in eliminating interference from DNA during protein analysis and purification processes.
Used in Gene Therapy:
PROTAMINE SULFATE GRADE III FROM HERRING is used as an alternative to polybrene in retroviral-mediated gene transfer. It enhances the efficiency of gene delivery by promoting the interaction between the viral vector and target cells, leading to improved transduction efficiency and therapeutic outcomes.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Protamine in the form of solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) promoted transfection with plasmid DNA more efficiently and with less cytotoxicity than comparable SLNs composed of Esterquat-1.
Purification Methods
Protamine sulfate is a strongly basic protein (white powder, see pK) used to precipitate nucleic acids from crude protein extracts. It dissolves to the extent of 1.25% in H2O. It is freely soluble in hot H2O but separates as an oil on cooling. It has been purified by chromatography on an IRA-400 ion-exchange resin in the SO 4 form and is washed with dilute H2SO4. Eluates are freeze-dried under high vacuum below 20o. This method is used to convert proteamine and protamine hydrochloride to the sulfate. Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 9007-31-2 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 9,0,0 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 9007-31:
(6*9)+(5*0)+(4*0)+(3*7)+(2*3)+(1*1)=82
82 % 10 = 2
So 9007-31-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
