9012-31-1 Usage
Description
EC 6.2.1.1, also known as S-Acetyl-coenzyme A synthetase, is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of acetyl-CoA and coenzyme A to S-acetyl-CoA. It plays a crucial role in various metabolic pathways and gene expression studies.
Used in Metabolic Pathway Studies:
EC 6.2.1.1 is used as a research tool for studying various metabolic pathways, such as glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, pyruvate metabolism, and CO2 fixation. Its involvement in these pathways helps researchers understand the regulation and function of these processes in different organisms.
Used in Gene Expression Studies:
EC 6.2.1.1 is also used as a tool for gene expression studies, allowing researchers to investigate the regulation of gene expression in response to various stimuli and conditions. This can provide valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying different biological processes and diseases.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Acetyl-coenzyme A synthetase catalyzes the production of acetyl-CoA. It is involved in histone acetylation in the nucleus. It may be involved in the growth of nonfermentable carbon sources such as glycerol. Acetyl-coenzyme A synthetase is induced by acetate, acetaldehyde and ethanol .
Purification Methods
This enzyme has been purified by extraction into phosphate buffer pH 6.8-7.0 containing 2-mercaptoethanol and EDTA, protamine sulfate precipitation, polyethylene glycol fractionation, Alumina gel filtration, concentration by (NH4)2SO4 precipitation, Bio-Gel A-0.5m chromatography and DEAE-cellulose gradient chromatography. It has Km (apparent) 0.24mM (for acetate) and 0.035mM (for CoA); 1.2 mM for ATP and Mg2+ 4.0mM. [Frenkel & Kitchens Methods Enzymol 71 317 1981.]
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 9012-31-1 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 9,0,1 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 9012-31:
(6*9)+(5*0)+(4*1)+(3*2)+(2*3)+(1*1)=71
71 % 10 = 1
So 9012-31-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
