9013-71-2 Usage

Uses

Used in Medical Research:
Hemopexin is used as a research tool for studying the pathogenesis of bacterial infections, particularly Staphylococcus aureus, by assessing its role in surface colonization assays.
Used in Immunology:
Hemopexin is used as a stimulant for mixed lymphocyte cells to identify biomarkers associated with acute rejection in transplantation, aiding in the development of diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies for transplant recipients.
Used in the Study of Heme Metabolism:
Hemopexin is utilized in research to understand its role in the transport and regulation of heme, which is essential for various physiological functions, including oxygen transport and cellular respiration. This knowledge can contribute to the development of treatments for heme-related disorders.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Hemopexin is an acute-phase protein that plays a major protective role against oxidative stress through its heme-scavenging activities. Hemopexin binds heme with high affinity and is critical for recycling the iron bound to heme molecules and for protecting against heme-induced cellular damage. Free heme, when released or lost from proteins like hemoglobin, can catalyze the formation of reactive oxygen species. Heme is lipophilic and interchelates into lipid membranes and participate in the formation of highly-toxic hydroxyl radicals. Hemopexin may also protect against the heme-mediated oxidation of LDL cholesterol. Hemopexin may also serve an anti-inflammatory role via the negative regulation of IL-6 and TNF-α secretion by activated macrophages.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 9013-71-2 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 9,0,1 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 9013-71:
(6*9)+(5*0)+(4*1)+(3*3)+(2*7)+(1*1)=82
82 % 10 = 2
So 9013-71-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
