Used in Biotechnology Industry:
EC 3.4.24.4 is used as a proteolytic enzyme for the degradation of proteins and peptides. It is particularly useful in the biotechnology industry for the breakdown of complex protein structures, enabling the analysis and characterization of proteins and peptides.
Used in Textile Industry:
In the textile industry, EC 3.4.24.4 is used as a degrading agent for antheraea pernyi silk fibroin films. This application allows for the modification and improvement of silk-based materials, enhancing their properties and expanding their potential uses in various applications.
Note: 1 KU (Katal Unit) = 1000 units, which is a measure of enzyme activity and can be used to quantify the amount of EC 3.4.24.4 required for specific applications.

Biochem/physiol Actions

This product is a mixture of at least three caseinolytic activities and one aminopeptidase activity. The caseinolytic enzymes were named as Streptomyces griseus Protease A, Streptomyces griseus Protease B and Streptomyces griseus Trypsin. This product may be used when extensive or complete degradation of protein is required. This protease mixture is highly nonspecific and can digest casein to the extent of >70% as mono-amino acids.
