Reaction of 3-substituted-4-amino-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazoles with substituted cinnamic acids

Various 2,4-dialkoxy-5-ethylcinnamic acids (2) when condensed with 3-substituted-4-amino-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazoles (3) in the presence of phosphorus oxychloride give 3-substituted-6-[2-(2′,4′-dialkoxy-5′-alkylphenyl)ethen-1-yl]- s-triazolo[3,4-b] [1,3,4]thiadiazoles (4) whose structures have been established on the basis of analytical and spectral data. The thiadiazoles 4 have been assessed for antiinflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal activities.
