5-Anthracenylidene-and 5-(4-benzyloxy-3-methoxy)benzylidene-hydantoin and 2-thiohydantoin derivatives 3a-g were prepared by condensation of anthracene-9-carboxaldehyde and 4-benzyloxy-3-methoxybenzylaldehyde with hydantoin and 2-thiohydantoin derivatives.
