Description

Lambda Phage DNA, also known as bacteriophage lambda DNA, is a linear duplex DNA molecule derived from the bacteriophage lambda, a virus that infects Escherichia coli bacteria. It consists of 48,502 nucleotide pairs and has self-complementary single-stranded protrusions at the 5′ ends, which can anneal to form circles. Upon entry into the host cell, the DNA circularizes in the presence of DNA ligase, and during the lytic infection, it undergoes a process called rolling-circle replication to form linear concatemers. These concatemers are then cleaved by the enzyme DNA terminase to form monomeric chromosomal units.

Uses

Used in Biotechnology Industry:
Lambda Phage DNA is used as a calibration standard for spectrophotometers and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) methods to determine the G+C content of bacterial genomic DNA.
Used in Molecular Biology Research:
Lambda Phage DNA is used as a substrate for restriction enzymes, enabling researchers to study and analyze DNA restriction patterns and enzyme activity.
Used in Chromatin Immunoprecipitation (ChIP) Assays:
Methylated Lambda Phage DNA from Escherichia coli host strain W3110 is used as a control in ChIP assays, which are employed to study protein-DNA interactions and epigenetic modifications in various organisms.
Used in Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Amplification:
Lambda Phage DNA is used to amplify the λ exonuclease gene by PCR, allowing researchers to study the function and regulation of this gene in molecular biology applications.
Used in DNase Activity Studies:
Lambda Phage DNA serves as a substrate for DNase enzymes, helping researchers investigate DNase activity and its role in various biological processes.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 91080-14-7 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 9,1,0,8 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 91080-14:
(7*9)+(6*1)+(5*0)+(4*8)+(3*0)+(2*1)+(1*4)=107
107 % 10 = 7
So 91080-14-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
