Disclosed are 7β-alkyl or arylalkyl-3-methoxy or hydroxy-4,5α-epoxy-6β-hydroxy-7α-hydroxymethyl-17-methyl or cycloalkylmethylmorphinans of the formula: STR1 In the above formula, R is H or methyl, R1 is methyl, cyclopropylmethyl or cyclobutylmethyl, n is 2 to 4 and Y is H or phenyl. These compounds are useful as narcotic analgesics.
