The oxidation of 1,2,4-triaminobenzene was investigated by electronic spectroscopy.Oxidation takes place through a series of intermediate stages with the final formation of triaminophenazine.The structure of the final oxidation product was confirmed by elemental analysis and IR, mass, and PMR spectra.A path for the formation of 2,3,6-triaminophenazine is proposed on the basis of an analysis of the PMR spectrum and also quantum-chemical calculation of the electron density distribution in the molecules.
