Material may be fatal if inhaled, swallowed or absorbed through skin. Contact may cause burns to skin and eyes. Material affects neural transmission. In sufficient concentrations, material may cause metabolic acidosis, respiratory arrest, and cardiac arrhythmias. [CAMEO] Effective bird repellant as flock is frightened by distress of poisoned birds; Avitrol is a central nervous system stimulant, and as little as 60 mg causes severe poisoning in adult humans. It is readily absorbed through the skin. Symptoms of poisoning include thirst, dizziness, weakness, sweating, toxic psychosis, tremors, and seizures. Avitrol can also cause methemoglobinemia.
