Mixed Ligand Complex of Praseodymium(III), Neodymium(III) and Samarium(III) with Dipicolinic Acid and Some Nitrogen, Oxygen Donor Ligands

A series of mixed ligand complexes of the type , where M = Pr(III), Nd(III) or Sm(III); dipicH2 = dipicolinic acid; N,OH = different N,O donors like picolinic acid, nicotinic acid, isonicotinic acid, glycine and m-aminophenol have been synthesised.The complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, electrical conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements and spectral data (electronic and infrared).Nephelauxetic ratio (β), percentage covalency parameter (δ) and bonding parameters (b1/2) of these chelates have been evaluated which indicate weak covalent bonding.Probable structures have been proposed for these complexes.
