Benzoxazoledione (II) and benzimidazoledione (III) have been synthesised from embelin (I) and condensed with various substituted aromatic primary amines to obtain the imino derivatives (IV, VII and VIII).The compounds are found to be active against fungi Fusarium oxysporum and Curvularia lunata.
