Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 93273-39-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 9,3,2,7 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 93273-39:
(7*9)+(6*3)+(5*2)+(4*7)+(3*3)+(2*3)+(1*9)=143
143 % 10 = 3
So 93273-39-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Dehydrogenation of 6-Alkylbenzocycloheptanes

Sen, P. K.,Lahiri, Sikha,Das, Tapan K.

, p. 821 - 824 (2007/10/02)

Acylation of benzene with α-alkylglutaric anhydrides gives separable isomeric mixtures of α-alkyl-γ-benzoylbutanoic acids (2; R1 = alkyl; R2 = H) and γ-alkyl-γ-benzoylbutanoic acids (2; R1 = H; R2 = alkyl). These acids (2) are converted into the title compounds (5) by the usual Wolff-Kishner reduction followed by polyphosphoric acid cyclization and Clemmensen reduction.Contrary to an earlier report , compounds (5) (R = Me, Et, n-Pr and n-Bu) on dehydrogenation with Pd-C give predominantly 1-methylnaphthalene together with small amounts of naphthalene, 1-alkylnaphthalene and 5-alkyl-1-methylnaphthalene.
