Stereochemistry of Iodine Chloride Addition to Olefinic Bond of Diels-Alder Adducts by PMR Spectroscopy

Stereochemical conformations of the products obtained by the addition of iodine chloride to bicyclo-5-heptene-7-diphenylmethylene-2,3-endo/exo-dicarboxylic anhydrides have been investigated by PMR spectroscopy.The exo-cis addition of iodine chloride to endo adducts and trans addition to exo-adducts have been further demonstrated with the help of preferred conformations about the N-N bond of their N-(diacylamino)imide derivatives.
