A tandem reaction of 4-(1-acetoxyallyl)-1-sulfonyl-1,2,3-triazole including formation of α-imino rhodium carbene, 1,2-migration of an acetoxy group and six electron electrocyclic ring closure was reported. The migration of the OAc group with excellent chemoselectivity was the crucial process, leading to the formation of 1,2-dihydropyridine specifically in up to 90% yield. Several transformations of the dihydropyridine product were also achieved illustrating the potential of the protocol in organic synthesis. Based on the observation of the intermediate, a plausible mechanism was proposed.

Asymmetric hydrovinylation of silyl-protected allylic alcohols catalyzed by nickel complexes of chiral spiro phosphoramidite ligands was developed. A series of homoallylic alcohols with a chiral quaternary center were produced in high yields (up to 97%) and high enantioselectivities (up to 95% ee). The reaction provides an efficient method for preparing bifunctional compounds with a chiral quaternary carbon center.

An efficient reductive kinetic resolution strategy capable of accessing optically active tertiary hydroperoxides is reported. Readily accessible tertiary hydroperoxides are resolved with commercially available (R)- or (S)-xylyl-PHANEPHOS with selectivity factors as large as 37. The resulting bis(phosphine oxide) can be recycled in high yields. The isolated mono(phosphine oxide) intermediate resolved hydroperoxides with the same selectivity as the parent bisphosphine.
