Description
DibroMochloroMethane-13C is a labeled analogue of a volatile halogenated methane, which is found in trace amounts in drinking water due to the water treatment process. DibroMochloroMethane-13C plays a significant role in various applications, particularly in the field of polymer chemistry.
Uses
Used in Polymer Industry:
DibroMochloroMethane-13C is used as a chain transfer agent in PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) polymerization. Its presence helps control the molecular weight and polydispersity of the resulting polymer, leading to improved material properties and performance in various applications, such as pipes, films, and coatings. The use of DibroMochloroMethane-13C in PVC polymerization contributes to the development of high-quality polymers with tailored characteristics for specific uses.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 93951-99-6 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 9,3,9,5 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 93951-99:
(7*9)+(6*3)+(5*9)+(4*5)+(3*1)+(2*9)+(1*9)=176
176 % 10 = 6
So 93951-99-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis of mixed halogenated trihalomethanes labelled with the stable isotopes 2H or 13C
Vermeulen,Sangaiah,Ball,Gold
, p. 835 - 843 (1995)
2H and 13C-labelled bromodichloromethane and chlorodibromomethane were obtained in yields of 20 and 12% (for 2H) and 6 and 3% (for 13C) respectively from a convenient aluminum chloride-catalyzed reaction of bromoethane with commercially-available isotopically-substituted chloroform. The products were purified by preparative gas chromatography and-characterized by MS and 13C NMR, and by 1H for the 13C-labelled material; mass and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy data are reported.
