A method was developed for the production of 1-chloroperfluoro-1,3-butadiene by the addition of 1-iodo-1,2,2-trichloro-1,2-difluoroethane to trifluoroethene, elimination of the hydrogen halide, chlorination and dechlorination. 1-Phenyl-4-chloroperfluorbutadiene, in the chlorine atom is capable of being substituted by a lithium atom, was obtained by the reaction of phenylmagnesium bromide with 1-chloroperfluorobutadiene.Carbonization of the lithium derivative gave 5-phenylperfluoro-2,4-pentadienoic acid.
