In the 1:1 2-propanol-water medium 1,1,2,2-tetracyanoethane reacts with s-trans-enones and nitroalkenes, forming substituted 2-amino-1,5,5-tricyano-1-cyclopentenes.With s-cis-enones it forms substituted 3-imino-4,7,7-tricyano-2-oxabicycloheptanes.
