The synthesis is described of I-3, II-3-bis-(methylthio)-I-4′, II-4′, I-5, II-5, I-7, II-7-hexamethoxy-[1-3′, II-8]-biflavone (2) and I-3, II-3-bis-(methylthio)-I-4′, II-4′, I-5, II-5, I-7, II-7-hexamethoxy-[I-3′, II-6]-biflavone (4), in one step from bichalcones 1 and 3, respectively, using the I2-Me2SO-H 2SO4 reagent system.
