Quantitative Softness Parameters and Their Relationship with Physicochemical Data of Organobimetallic Complexes

Softness parameters of a series of new organobimetallic compounds of general formula (SCN)2M(RHgXCN)2 have been derived.These compounds have been studied by various physicochemical techniques also.Correlation of the softness parameters with various physicochemical data e.g. infrared spectral, electronic spectral and stability costant data indicate that CH3C6H4HgSCN is a better donor than NO2C6H4HgSCN and Co(NCS)2 is a better acceptor than Mn(NCS)2 and Zn(NCS)2.Also RHgSCN are better donors than the corresponding selenocyanates.
