The reaction of 2,4-dimethyl-3-formyl-4-ethoxycarbonylcyclohex-2-enone with (2E,4E)-5-ethoxycarbonyl-2-methyl-2,4-pentadienyltriphenylphosphonium bromide in the Wittig reaction was investigated at room temperature and at pressures of up to 1000 MPa.The C17 retinoid was obtained with a yield of 88percent.The rate constants and the volume effect of activation of the reaction were calculated.
