Synthesis of some new thiazolidinopiperazine-2,5-diones and their pharmacological approach

A series of some new thiazolidinopiperazine-2,5-dione variously substituted on the free nitrogen atom was prepared from L-thiaproline. The structure of the compounds was established by proton NMR. A pharmacological approach in the field of central nervous system pointed out that almost all compounds exhibited a weak activity. However some of them were significantly neurosedative; others gave positive responses in antidepressant activity tests.
