Description
Flupyradifurone (FPF) is a novel butenolide insecticide developed for foliar, soil, and seed treatment applications. It was commercially introduced to the market in 2014 as an integrated pest management (IPM)-friendly tool and is registered for use in a wide variety of fruit and vegetable crops and defined broad acre crops. FPF targets some of the world's most destructive sucking pests, including aphids, psyllids, scales, leafhoppers, mealy bugs, and is particularly important for the control of whiteflies such as Bemisia tabaci, a vector of serious phytopathogenic viruses.
Used in Agriculture:
Flupyradifurone is used as a systemic insecticide for the control of piercing, sucking insects such as aphids and whiteflies. It is the first member of the butenolide class of insecticides and acts on the central nervous system of target insect pests as an agonist of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR). Its chemical structure differs from the nitroguanidine neonicotinoids, making it a separate sub-class of IRAC Group 4.
Used in Berry Crops (except cranberry):
Flupyradifurone is used as an insecticide for the control of sucking pests in berry crops, excluding cranberry.
Used in Cereal Grains (except rice):
Flupyradifurone is used as an insecticide for the control of sucking pests in cereal grains, excluding rice.
Used in Alfalfa and Clover:
Flupyradifurone is used as an insecticide for the control of sucking pests in alfalfa and clover crops.
Used in Vegetables (except sugar beet):
Flupyradifurone is used as an insecticide for the control of sucking pests in vegetables, excluding sugar beet.
Used in Fruits and Ornamental Plants:
Flupyradifurone is used as an insecticide for the control of sucking pests in fruits and ornamental plants.
Used in Soybean:
Flupyradifurone is registered for foliar and seed treatment use only in soybean crops. It is formulated as a soluble liquid (SL) and flowable concentrate (FS), and application to soybean seeds is approved via commercial seed treatment application only.
Preparation
Two different pathways for the synthesis of flupyradifuroneStarting from tetronic acid, one approach consists in two consecutive reactions. Where the tetronic acid reacts firstly with a difluoroethane-1-amine and secondly with 2-Chloro-5- (chloromethyl)pyridine. And the other approach, where the tetronic acid reacts with difluoroethane-1-amine derivative in the presence of 4-toluenesulfonic acid in a “one pot” approach to yield flupyradifurone.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 951659-40-8 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 9,5,1,6,5 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 951659-40:
(8*9)+(7*5)+(6*1)+(5*6)+(4*5)+(3*9)+(2*4)+(1*0)=198
198 % 10 = 8
So 951659-40-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
