A detailed investigation was made into the structure and composition of the products from acid-catalyzed reaction of 2-furylalkynylcarbinols in the presence of ethanol.The main reaction products are (Z,E)-5-ethoxy-2,5-dihydrofuran-2-ylidine derivatives of the initial acetylenic alcohols.The hexacarbonyldicobalt-(Z)-1-(5-ethoxy-2,5-dihydrofuran-2-ylidine)-3-phenyl-2-propyne μ,η2-complex was obtained and described for the first time.
