Second-order kinetics of the addition of benzeneselenenyl bromide to seven substituted styrenes was studied. The ρ and ρ+ values were -0.37 and -0.27, respectively. The mechanism were discussed and the product distributions were found to be strongly solvent dependent. 1H, 13C, as wel as 77Se NMR spectra were employed for product identification. The correlation between 77Se NMR shifts for the adducts 1 and 2 ? values were presented.
