A series of new heptamethinecyanines with a six-membered ring in the chromophore were synthesized.The maxima of the absorption bands of these dyes lie in the region of up to 1000 nm.The six-membered ring in the chromophore, electron-donating substituents, and condensed benzene rings in the quinoline fragment shift the absorption maximum of the obtained compounds toward the long-wave region.
