Triaryl-phosphines, -phosphine chalkogenides and -(methyl)phosphonium iodides with 4-nitro and 4-piperidino substituents were synthesized by nucleophilic aromatic substitution of 4-fluorine by nitrite and piperidine.Their UV-VIS spectra can be rationalized as the result of the overlap of the independent absorption bands of the aryl groups as isolated chromophores.An additional long wavelenght absorption is due to a charge transfer excitation between a donor- and an acceptor-substituted aryl group.There is no indication of a through-conjugation across phosphorus.
