Methoxycarbonyl sulphenyl chloride (Scm.Cl) and o-nitrophenyl-sulphenyl chloride (Nps.Cl) have been shown to cleave methionyl peptide bonds in a manner similar to that found with cyanogen bromide. These new methods of cleavage of methionyl peptide bonds were illustrated by digestion of H.Gly.Met.Ala.OH trifluoroacetate, the (1-32) fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone and Hen Egg-White Lysozyme.
