The synthesis and spectral data (IR, UV and MS) of five new fluorinated 1,3-diketonates of Pd(II), L2Pd (where L is a fluorinated 1,3-diketone anion) have been discussed.The spectral data give evidence for the O,O'-chelation of the diketone anion and the formation of square planar complexes.The mass spectra show some preferential fragmentation patterns depending upon the substitution of alkyl or perfluoroalkyl groups.More extensive fragmentation has been observed for higher alkyl or perfluoroalkyl substituted diketonates.
