A series of N6,N6-disubstituted 9H-purin-6-amines 2a-i was prepared from 5-acetamido-6-amino-2-methylpyrimidin-4(3H)-one (1) and a secondary amine or its hydrochloride in the presence of phosphorus pentoxide and triethylamine hydrochloride.
