The reaction of methyl aziridine-2-carboxylate with hydrazine or alkylhydrazines gives the respective hydrazides, which with ketones form 2,2-disubstituted 1,3,4-triazabicyclo-heptan-5-ones.With aldehydes they form the respective hydrazones. The reaction of the amide and methyl ester of aziridine-2-carboxylic acid with aldehydes gives a series of aziridinocarbinols.
