About us

EMI was founded in 1985 by Edward Salmon after selling his shares of a company he founded called Permagile-Salmon Ltd., Long Island, NY - a manufacturer of epoxy, R.T.V. silicones and urethane compounds for the electrical/electronic industries. Initially, EMI acted as a Manufacturer Rep for Permagile-Salmon Ltd., and then other related product lines, while a book "Encapsulation of Electronic Devices and Components" was being completed and published by Marcel Dekker Inc., NY at the beginning of 1987. At this point, the interest in U.V. cure technology was taken up which satisfied a desire "to return to the bench". The first decision taken was to confine efforts exclusively to the development of U.V. cure epoxies, an undeveloped technology in the electronics industry. The first sales were made in Europe in 1989 which remains a major market. Growth has been rapid with sales often being double over the previous year. Approximately 75% of sales are export - Europe and Asia. In June 1993, EMI occupied a 2,200 square foot building in Brookfield, CT. In mid 1995, a second location was opened in Breckenridge, Colorado in a new 2800 square foot (owned) building.
