About us

The Gwalior Forest Products Ltd. is built on the foundation of 70 years of family owned and managed business success. GFPL was incorporated in 1942 and established itself as Katha and Kutch manufacturing unit. We are the leading and oldest manufacturer of Katha (Acacia Catechu extract) in India. Katha is a food ingredient used in the Indian food industry and is derived from the heartwood of the Acacia Catechue tree. Our journey since 1942 has been incredible. The company was established in 1942 to provide employment and bring industry to the economically backward district of Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. The intent of the promoters was to create an organization which besides making a profit also focused on economic inclusion of the marginalized sections of society. Gwalior Forest Products Ltd. still holds this ethos dear and today provides a livelihood to almost 400 families from the surrounding villages. The company is located in the picturesque town of Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh, 400 km south of New Delhi on NH3 (Agra Bombay Highway). Situated in the middle of India’s forested heartland, GFP’s proximity to various raw materials and forest produce allows for strategic sourcing and close monitoring of the produce.
