About us

Indesso was established near Purwokerto, Central Java, Indonesia in 1968 by Robert H. Gunawan. The company, which is known today as a major purveyor of fine chemicals, started by simply distilling clove leaf oil from hearty clove trees found in the fertile mountain area near Purwokerto. Over the years, Indesso grew from a small local company to a multi-million dollar enterprise which now offers a variety of natural extracts, essential oils, and aromatic chemicals using advanced extracting technologies. In 1992 Indesso took a large step toward becoming a leader in the flavor and fragrance ingredient industry by producing Eugenol and its derivatives from clove leaf oil. Indesso is now a leading producer in this field. The hard work of everyone at Indesso and their commitment to the highest production standards possible resulted in the company's ISO certification in 1996 and FSSC certification in 2011. Indesso is now also fully compliant with the standards required for the manufacture of both Halal and Kosher products. Indesso continued to position itself as a world-class producer of fine chemicals by building a new aromatic chemical plant at Cileungsi, West Java in September 2001.
