The Pan American Chemical Industries SA is a company with a vocation for technological innovation and pioneering panorama Brazilian industrial chemical. Founded on July 29, 1948, established its first factory in the industrial district of Fazenda Botafogo currently Honorio Gurgel - Rio de Janeiro. The company soon stood out as a producer of chlorine and caustic soda in the state and as the only manufacturer of sodium sulfide electrowinning in Latin America. In 1977, the Pan American innovated in Brazilian industrial scenario when installing and operating the first plant of caustic potash and potassium carbonate in Latin America. In 1988, the company entered the field of specialty chemicals, deploying its second production plant in Rio de Janeiro, this time in the industrial district of Santa Cruz. Currently, Pan, as it is also known, is the only producer of chlor-alkali plants in the state of Rio de Janeiro and the absolute leader of the markets of caustic potash and potassium carbonate in Latin America.
