physical and chemical properties

sodium silicofluoride is free-flowing crystal, white, odorless; specific weight 2.68; slightly soluble in water, insoluble in alcohol; corrosive and toxic; it would decompose into sodium fluoride and silicon tetrafluoride if ignited to over 450°c. melting point: decomposes @ 500°c (932°f), decomposition temperature: 500°c (932°f).

application:

ø in pharmacy and fluoridation of drinking water.

ø opalizer and fluxing agent in glass and vitreous enamel frits.

ø filling agent in plastic.

ø coagulating agent in natural rubber and latex products.
