Poison by intraperitoneal route. Moderately toxic by ingestion and skin contact. A skin irritant. Reacts with nitric acid to form a heat-sensitive explosive product. Can form peroxides in storage. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke and irritating fumes.
