History

The structure of Monensin (17090-79-8) was first described by Agtarap et al. in 1967, and was the first polyether antibiotic to have its structure elucidated in this way. The first total synthesis of momensin was reported by Kishi et al in 1979.

Uses

Monensin (17090-79-8) is used extensively in the beef and dairy industries to increase the production of propionic acid, prevent coccidiosis and bloat. In addition, its derivatives monensin methyl ester (MME), and particularly monensin decyl ester (MDE) are widely used in ion selective electrodes.

Specification

3-Nitroaniline (99-09-2) also can be called Elancoban ; Rumensin ; monensin A .It is a well-known representative of naturally polyether ionophore antibiotics. It is hazardous,so the first aid measures and others should be known.Such as: When on the skin: first, should  flush skin with plenty of water immediatelyfor at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing. Secondly,Get shoesmedical aid . Or in the eyes: Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Then get medical aid soon. While ,it's Inhaled: Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately.Give artificial respiration while not breathing. When breathing is difficult, give oxygen. And as soon as to get medical aid. Then you have the ingesting of the product : If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water, and get medical aid immediately.
In addition,it can be stable under normal temperature and pressure conditions. You must not take it with strong oxidants. And also prevent it to broken down into hazardous decomposition products: irritating and toxic fumes and gases.
